SikaSwell S-2  is an extrudible swelling profile for construction joints which expands  when  it  comes  in  contact  with  water.    Due  to  its  properties  it shows  a  high  efficiency  and  a  very  good  adaptability  to  all  kinds  of  con- struction  joints.

Uses:

SikaSwell  S-2   is  an  extrudible   waterproofing  profile  that  can  be  used  in every kind of construction joint (but not for expansion joints) such as:

to  connect  new  concrete  cast  against  hardened  concrete

to  connect  precast  pipeline  elements

to fix Sika Hydrotite CJ Type (see technical data sheet of Sika Hydrotite)

for  waterproofing  joints  with  very  dense  steel  reinforcement

to  connect  different  kinds  of  material  (steel  to  concrete,  stones  to concrete, etc)

to  waterproof  joints  between  precast  segments  in  underground tubing

on very rough concrete surfaces

on  circular  joints

crack  sealing.

Properties

SikaSwell  S-2    is  an  extrudible,  swelling  waterstop  for  construction joints,  with  a  special  formulation  that  ensures  a  slow  expansion  rate to  avoid  damage  to  fresh  concrete  during  curing.

SikaSwell  S-2    is  very  practical  in  use  due  to  its  packaging  which allows  an  easy  extrusion  of  a  profile  with  section  according  to  the application  needs.

SikaSwell  S-2    shows  excellent  adhesion  on  concrete  surface  so  it doesn't need any other fixation on the joint surface as with preformed products.

After  hardening  it  turns  to  a  very  elastic  strip  with  a  long  durability

Application:

The joint surface should be dry - max. mat moist, free from oil, dust, soil,  and  other  loose  particles

For the fixation of Sika Hydrotite CJ Type

A thin bead of SikaSwell S-2   of approx. 5-mm and 1-mm thick is applied to  the  smooth  substrates.  In  case  of  uneven  substrates  the  layer  thick- ness  must  be  adjusted  accordingly.  Sika  Hydrotite  CJ  Type  must  be pressed well into the freshSikaSwell S-2   layer. Concreting shall not take place  before  three  hours  after  application.

As sealing material for construction joint

Put  the  unipac  into  the  extrusion  gun  and  screw-on  the  nozzle.  Cut  the nozzle  to  obtain  a  triangular  extrusion  section  as  recommended  below and apply it continuously to the hardened concrete. Wait for about 4 hours and  in  the  meanwhile  place  the  formwork,  while  SikaSwell  S-2   starts  to skin.  Then  place  the  fresh  concrete,  avoiding  a  drop  height  greater  than 50  cm.
